Area churches offer Brunswick stew, pork shoulders and a Thanksgiving breakfast.

Cloverdale Church of the Living God will hold a Brunswick stew fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. For details or to order, call 847-0127 or 886-4963. The church is at 2502 Surrett Drive in Archdale.

New Covenant Lutheran Church will hold midweek advent services beginning at 6 p.m. with a soup and sandwich supper Wednesdays, Dec. 5, 12 and 19. The simple services will follow with Pastor Jeff Hoffner doing monologue sermons as biblical characters. A breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The menu will include pancakes, sausages, orange juice and toast. Santa will put in a surprise visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. and children of all ages are invited to have their picture taken with him. Old Union United Methodist Church is taking orders for cooked pork shoulders. Cost is $40 each and includes a bottle of sauce. Deadline to order is Nov. 18; call 498-7102. Orders will be ready for pick up between 4 and 6 p.m. Nov. 21. The church is at 5077 Walker Mill Road in Sophia.

Welch Memorial United Methodist Church will host its annual Thanksgiving day breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22. The menu includes eggs, grits, bacon, ham, sausage, cooked apples, biscuits, coffee and orange juice. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for children ages 5 and younger. Attendees are asked to bring at least one nonperishable food item to help local food banks. The church is at 2405 Bellemeade St. in High Point.

Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church will hold its annual Carolina Christmas Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. There will be over 70 vendors and craftsmen, a silent auction, bake sale and general store offering gently used items. Admission and parking are free. The church is at 1225 Chestnut Drive in High Point.
